A set of 6 Mira chairs designed by George Nakashima and made by Gino Russo. This set of 6 Mira chairs in solid cherry sitting on three legs with a sculpted seat and hand turned spindles. All the same construction techniques (hand carved spindles, sculpted seat, dented leg tips and glue to hold). No client name or apparent signatures.
Gino Russo, an Italian immigrant, came to America to work for George Nakashima in the 1960s. He learned how to turn and sculpt American walnut and cherry and after a few years ventured on his own to start his own studio in New York City. This set of 6 chairs an exact copy of George Nakashima’s famed Mira Chairs.
Dimensions: 18” deep x 19-19.5” varied width x 27 - 28” varied height
Condition: Original finish, tight joints, some water marks and stains, great patina from age and use.
