Kim Baise is a Los Angeles based artist and designer with a masters in printmaking and sculpture from NYU. (She lived in Virginia Beach and Norfolk 11 years! 1998-2009)
Using papier mache and organic and re-purposed materials, her mobile constructions and figurative assemblages embody the energy of her mark making. While referencing traditional cartoneria, her ice cream trucks, skateboarding flamingos, she-ra feministas and crying eyes reveal her own visual narrative on every day. Kim has taken her personal aesthetic of bright colors and bold shapes to create papier-mâché art that is fresh, fun modern and full of texture. Jikits is the result of Kim playing in her own creative inner world.
