Mel Smilow, the famed mid century furniture designer, had a passion for art before he took over the family business of wholesaling furniture when his father passed.  Mel would go on to design a prolific line of furniture and it wasnt until his retirement that he returned to art.  His work seldomly hits the market and would make a great investment.
